Vice President Sales - Specialty Ingredients

Solix Algredients, a B2B supplier of algae-based, natural ingredients is looking to hire a Vice President of Sales. The VP Sales will report the CEO and be responsible for expanding sales with existing customers and developing new business both in the Americas and internationally. B2B customer target sectors will include the nutrition/dietary supplement and personal care markets. 

We are looking for an execuitve to: 

  • Create and execute a sales strategy that supports the overall Solix business strategy;
  • Clearly identify addressable markets with solid market data and analytics;
  • Propose the Solix strategy for profitably selling in each market;
  • Cleary articulate the Solix proposition beyond pricing (quality, cGMP, team…);
  • Identify customer targets and formulate sales propositions;
  • Directly manage customer relationships and expectations (“house accounts”) and secure repeat business;
  • Effectively manage distributors (joint customer visits and focus on performance metrics);
  • Provide monthly sales forecasts by customer and geography with a high level of transparency;
  • Provide monthly sales reports with performance metrics versus forecast;
  • Monitor marketplace, customer and competitor activity and provide relevant feedback to leadership team;
  • Effectively manage and leverage the company’s marketing collateral (Solasta® brand name, trademark license agreements…);  
  • Represent the company at trade shows (preparation, issuance, and delivery of sales materials, exhibits, and promotion programs);

 

 The right candidate will have: 

  • Technical degree preferred (food science, engineering, biology, chemistry, biochemistry) but preference given to strong sales track record in target industry;
  • Extensive experience and “rolodex” of contacts in the North American dietary supplement industry;
  • Experience of working and negotiating with contract manufacturers and branded companies;
  • Dietary supplement retail/brand/marketing experience an advantage;
  • Record of success as a ‘deal maker’ and a ‘closer;’
  • New product introduction and positioning experience;
  • Attention to detail and follow-up;
  • Experience of customer retention programs, incentive plans, rebates;
  • International experience;
  • Chinese language proficiency a bonus;
  • Willing to travel extensively - both domestic and international.
