Director of Sales - Natural Products industry

Overview of the Role: 

The Director of Sales at will help create, drive and execute the sales efforts of the Company’s brands with Natural Channel buyers and retailers. Fundamental to success in this role is the ability to influence, motivate, coach and mentor brokers in the field. In addition, the successful Director of Sales will have existing relationships with retail buyers at both the corporate and regional level in the natural channel. This role reports to the company president.

Primary responsibilities:

  •         Develop, train and sustain broker network, ensuring account coverage and responsibility to sales goals. Expected 50-60% travel in the field.
  •         Guide (the team in the office), oversee and manage sales program implementations with focus on execution of quarterly promotions (e.g. RPP, promotions, demonstrations, co-op)
  •         Develop a system for reporting field sales/ broker activity, increasing field sales accountability and sharing information gathered with Company leadership.  
  •         Assist in the analysis of sales activity by product and region. Use information gathered in the field to help leadership Interpret data, and determine outpoints and opportunities,
  •         Manage and oversee revenue budgets for each brand with sensitivity to margin – assuring that sales programs are implemented as agreed.
  •         Participate in the development of sales and marketing programs and materials as required to support revenue efforts to ensure appropriate support of critical projects to satisfy customer’s expectations
  •         Consistently work on approaches to more completely penetrate key retail partners (e.g. Whole Foods, Sprouts, Vitamin Cottage, Vitamin Shoppe, INFRA, NCG).  

Measureable outcomes:

  • Increase distribution and SKUs in key specialty retailers.
  • Overall business growth and product penetration in natural retail channel.

Necessary qualifications:

  •         7-15 years sales experience
  •         Strong relationships with buyers at natural retailers
  •         Documented success in prior sales roles
  •         General management and team-building experience
  •         Account management in an entrepreneurial corporate environment
  •         Prior experience developing and delivering sales plans
  •         Strong communication skills
  •         Nutritional and/or health-positive consumer products sales experience preferred
  •         Ability to travel 50-60%
  •         Valid passport for international travel
  •         Bachelor’s degree

Compensation:

Company offers a well above average industry compensation package to include base salary, commissions and annual bonus. Relocation assistance will be provided for the exceptional candidate.
